A Long Journey

I placed a precious sliver of me in a tiny opaque bubble.

I hid it at the end of a branch of a twisting, thorny maze.

It sat, un-knowing, unknown, yet not forgotten, nurtured by a tiny seed of hope.

Unaware, it was joined by many others over the years. Each one self-contained. Each oblivious of the other.

Gradually, the opacity dulled and light began to gently shimmer as each was painfully discovered.

The overgrown twisted tangle of the bramble maze began to be replaced by kinder containment.

And now

The barriers are dissolving

The bubbles are aware of each other and can see each other’s hope through their thin, transparent walls.

They are smiling.

They will be free.

I will be me
